Easter Sunday is not in The Bible, but a creation of the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages based on the pagan holiday celebrating fertility. The church used the celebration to turn it into a Christian holiday ( they did this with Christmas too). The people couldn't read so they taught the Bible stories through various means. The stain glass windows taught the stories, passion plays, and the celebrations all taught the Bible to the population of the parish. Based on the biblical tradition of Jesus rising from the grave after 3 days the church actually made Easter on Monday rather than Sunday. This is the case in Europe today, but the United States has it on Sunday.
The scripture traditionally read on Easter Sunday is the story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, as told in the New Testament of the Bible.
