On Bloody Saturday, which occurred on July 1, 1919, in Winnipeg, Canada, workers were protesting for better working conditions, fair wages, and the right to unionize. The demonstration was part of a larger general strike that aimed to address economic inequality and labor rights. The protests escalated when the police and the military clashed with demonstrators, resulting in violence and several injuries. This event highlighted the intense labor unrest and social tensions of the time.
