When buying a wedding shower gift and cannot go to the wedding do you still have to buy a gift?

Yes, if your child plays with the child having the birthday or goes to school with them. You could get a gift, card and take your child over to let them hand it to them at an earlier date.

Yes, if the child is a relative or the child of a friend that you are close to. If it's just a co-workers child or a child of someone you don't know well, no.

* It is poor etiquette not to send a gift. You could send the gift with a friend that is going or drop it off a few days after the wedding shower (just in case it's a surprise for the bride to be.) A card should be attached to the gift and inside you should let them know you are sorry you could not attend, but send your best wishes (or love.)

You are never obligated to send a gift, but it's a nice gesture, especially if you like the couple (or the one you know/are related to.) You can send just a card, especially if you can't afford anything. Try to personalize it with a remeberance of something you did together in happy times (Unless this person is your ex, in which case you don't need to send anything if you don't want to.)

if theyre just an old work friend then maybe not or maybe a less exspensive gift but if theyre close friends then be kind.
