Charles Stewart Hardinge - 2nd Viscount Hardinge of Lurran (1822-1894)
Hardinge lost his left hand in the Napoleonic wars. He became a Tory MP in 1820 and served a Secretary at War from 1828 to 1830 and again from 1841 to 1844.
He served as Governor-General of India from 1844 until 1848.... He established schools and INTRODUCED SUNDAY AS THE WEEKLY HOLIDAY for government offices.....
