Christmas Trees first came to England with the Georgian Kings who came from Germany. Due to the unpopularity of the German Monarchy, the practice was not copied at Court.
In 1846, the popular Royals, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, were depicted in illustrations in the London News standing with their children around a Christmas Tree. As a result the Christmas tree became popular both in Britain and also with fashion-conscious East Coast American Society.
