There are teo types of Christmas celebration:

  • Religious: This is celebrated by Christians of many denominations although there is some variation of the date used and the rites and ceremonies involved
  • Secular: The period around the winter solstice (Yule) is celebrated by many people around the world as an occasion for partying and celebration. The period is marked with a wide range of commercial endeavors to attempt to sell seasonal gifts and promotional items.

The Reliogiou Christmas is celebrated by individual Christians and (generally) in countries where Christianity is the predominate religion in Nroth and South America, Africa and Europe. The secular Christmas is observed in these areas as well as areas where there is a significant western tourist or commercial connection (parts of Asia)

Islamic counties tend to ignore Christmas in either sense.
