The reason we eat gravy on Thanksgiving is because when the Pilgrims cooked the "Bird" be it turkey or pheasant, the drippings from it where used by putting a flour mixture together and creating a creamy soup called Gravy.
People ate Turkey, Corn and Beans. This is because Turkey comes from the Pilgrims and Corn and Beans come from the Native Americans. This is why it's been a tradition to eat Turkey on Thanksgiving.
