The guy that first answered is completely wrong.

Norteños are NOT under the blood alliance at all, Bloods program and operate differently. whereas the Norteños are foot soldiers and program under the NF, the Nuestra Familia. Norteños wear red because their rivals the Sureños from LA wear blue.

And the reason why Norteños call Sureños “ Skraps”

is because after internal fighting within La Eme, mainly due to paying taxes on the street and in prison and for being discriminated for being farm workers. Hispanics from Northern California, from Pretty much everywhere above Bakersfield split from La Eme and formed their own organization, naming it Nuestra Familia.

Norteños dominated northern California, being the largest organization with a highly strong presence and influence in the Central Valley, The Bay Area,

Monterrey County, and Sacramento.

however, Sureños were still present in northern California. Their numbers are very small, and despite a majority of them being born and raised from the north, they still choose to represent the south. Mainly due to them being rejected by the norteños when trying to join, So they run off and join a local “gang” that reps the sureños, when in reality they are just tweakers that smoke meth all day and dress like they still in the 90’s. Those types of individuals are called ”Skraps” Leftovers of La Eme, that didnt conform with the transformation of Northern Califronia under the Norteño banner.

I was personally involved in the streets and served time for my actions. I have the credentials to speak the truth on this matter. The streets is a waste of time and everybody dies or gets locked up in prison for something that was stupid and in the heat of the moment or trying to impress people that dont care about them. And 9 out of 10 times, their ”homies” always snitch on them when sh*t hits the fan. Seen it happen every single time. Stay out the streets and take care of yourself and your family.

Nortenos are a mostly Mexican gang that's under the Blood Alliance along with other gangs such as the Bloods, Pirus, & Brims to name a few. Their biggest rivals are gangs under the Mexican Mafia(Surenos, MS-13 & Eighteen Street) to name a few, and the Crips. Nortenos wear the color red to show their affiliation to the Blood Alliance.
