With zero nose radius, the leading cutting corner of the HSS (high speed steel) cutting tool comes to a point. Cutting a surface with a pointy tool gives a non-smooth surface finish. Also, when cutting steel, tremendous pressures are generated at the tool tip. A tool tip that comes to a point is weak at the point and the tip can fracture easily. Unfortunately, this tool fracture makes an uncontrolled, new shape on the cutting edge that often wears really fast, and/or leaves a bad surface finish on the part. With a 2mm nose radius, instead of coming to a point, the cutting edge of the tool is rounded. One result is the same difference you would get in smoothing frosting on a cupcake with the tip of a knife (sharp tip) and smoothing the frosting with the end of a spoon (rounded tip). The rounded tip gives a far smoother surface finish. Also, instead of all of the force being pressed against a sharp tip, the 2mm radius distributes force across a wider edge, making a far stronger tool tip that won't break down nearly as readily as a sharp tip would.
There are many different types of stainless steel..440c,ATs34, 303, etc..so it heavily depends on what type you're referring to. Ferritic stainless steels would be the ones that have the best machining characteristics but is not heat treatable.
A person skilled in operating steel lathes is typically referred to as a machinist or a lathe operator. These professionals possess expertise in precision machining, allowing them to create, modify, and finish metal parts by using lathes to shape steel and other materials. Their skills involve understanding technical drawings, selecting appropriate tools, and ensuring tight tolerances in their work. This expertise is crucial in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace.
For machining titanium, high-speed steel (HSS) and carbide tooling are commonly used, with specialized coatings like TiAlN to enhance durability and reduce wear. Aluminum typically uses carbide tooling or HSS with a high rake angle to facilitate chip removal and minimize binding. For steel and mild steel, HSS and carbide tools with robust geometries are preferred, often featuring coatings to improve performance and tool life. Each material requires specific tooling to optimize cutting speeds and achieve desired surface finishes.

Yes. It is considered "Mild" Steel due to the low amount of carbon in the steel.
By machining steel, stamping it, and machining wood.
waterjet cutting (for up to 12" thick)... or machining.
Some good metals for machining include aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel, and titanium. These metals are known for their machinability and can be shaped and formed accurately with various machining processes.
It depends on how thick of steel you're aiming to cut. But most job shops process steel with either laser cutting (for thin steel) or waterjet cutting (for up to 12" thick)... or machining.
No machining is advisable when material to be machined is red hot rather it can be forged, extruded. Primary machining only is normally advisable when material is red hot.
Machining is anessential process when working with pieces that need to have flat even surfaces or pieces that need to have a close tight fit. This includes: turning, drilling, boring, or blanchard grinding.http://www.225steel.com/steel-machining.htm
There are many advantages of steel because ofanti-corrosiveHygienicHigh strength - Low Weight100% Recyclableand also it is easy for machining process, cutting etc....
The formula to calculate the minimum bending radius for steel is: Minimum Bending Radius = (T * Width) / (2 * K), where T is the thickness of the steel, Width is the overall width of the bend, and K is a factor based on the steel's tensile strength and type of steel.
By unconvetional machining.EDM electric discharge machining.
Steel strings Ovation, 10", finger board radius. Nylon string Ovation, 0", finger board radius.
conventional machining is that in which the control of removal of material is either by automatic machines or by man handled.while cnc machinig is that in which control of machining process is done by computes or through programming.
