It all depends on what the sticky residue is.... First you can try some white vinegar, put some straight on to a cotton cloth and dab the area until it is wet then wait a minute or two and begin lightly scrubing it.. If that fails you may want to try a stronger cleaner which you can purchase from any auto parts store Armour-All makes several products that are safe for your cars interior..

I recently got colored lipgloss on my carpet and tried everything to get it out. I tried Resolve Carpet Cleaner, nail polish remover, eye and lip makeup remover, and vinegar. Nothing worked, until I read on the internet to use toothpaste, specifically Colgate. I didn't have Colgate so used Crest and it WORKED!!! I put some toothpaste on a brush and scrubbed into the stain. Instantly, the stain disappeared. I also used hot water to rinse with to make sure the stain really was gone. Presto, no more stain! I just used it on a beige carpet with bright pink lip gloss about 3 hours after the stain was put there by my four year old daughter. Truly worked a miracle. It isn't there anymore.
