Net is short for network. It is a group of organized radio stations meeting on a set time/frequency to exchange information etc. For example, every night a 8:00 p.m. our club runs a net where individuals tune into a set radio frequency to allow for announcements, messages or emergency information to be exchanged. By meeting each night on a schedule, if there was a disaster or failure of communications, each member would know that at least once per day there would be an set time/place to meet to get or send information to each other.
