Impedance is not unique to ham radio and applies to all electronics. Impedance is a property of electrical circuits that can impede the current from flowing.
You may have a Ham radio antenna anywhere in the US, unless there are restrictions as to its placement, such as in a condo or apartment. If you meant a Ham radio transmitter, then you must have a Ham license to operate it.
The primary function of ham radio is to provide amateur radio personalities and opportunity to showcase their effervescent characteristics. Apparently, specific equipment is needed to produce quality sound and to prevent feedback.
Without an amplifier.
No. The day before the first artificial satellite was launched in 1957, there were about 400,000 'ham' radio operators worldwide, licensed and actively enjoying the hobby.
(In the United States) you do not need a license to own a HAM radio. You may Listen to communications on a HAM radio without a license. However, you may NOT transmit on a HAM radio without a license.
It is used in ham radio terms as a term for the wife of the ham operator.
Obviously it's not infinite impedance--that would mean it soaks up all the voltage. It can't be zero impedance either...that would be a superconductor, and there aren't many of those around. Voltage sources have impedance, but it's not infinite. Sometimes the impedance of the source is critical--radio frequency amplifiers have to be impedance matched to their transmitting antennas if you don't want to burn them out.

You are thinking of a "hamlet" which does mean a small village. But the word "ham" often refers to a food that comes from a pig; or it can be a slang word that means a person who is a show-off and acts in a conceited way; or it can refer to somebody who is involved in the hobby of amateur radio-- such a person is called a "ham radio operator."
Amateur radio, often called ham radio, is both a hobby and a service in which participants, called "hams," use various types of radio communications equipment to communicate with other radio amateurs for public service, recreation and self-training. But we still don't know the origin of the word HAM.
Never haerd of a 10 ohm radio. There is no 10 ohm radio amplifier on the market, when you think that must be the output impedance of the amplifier. The output impedance of a radio amp is always less than 0.5 ohms. Scroll down to related links and go to "Voltage Bridging or impedance bridging - Zout < Zin"
Bad ham radio. Bad !

HAM stands for Help All Mankind .answer 2 Nice try, but no cigar!Ham is a derivative of amateur, in the same sense as on the stage.Amateur Radio.
Ham Nation - 2011 Interest Your Wife in Ham Radio 3-80 was released on: USA: 10 January 2013
There are many ham radio clubs around the world. When you become a member of a local ham club, you would be considered a club ham radio operator. There are clubs that have a repeater that they own and/or maintain. The club would have it's own call sign with the repeater.
It is an amateur radio {ham radio} callsign issued by the FCC.
