A child who at the time was about 12/13 years old back in the late 1970s drew the character on one of those long fat slightly knobbly balloons ,using felt tip pens . Once finished she then thought that looks like a fun silly character that could be drawn on paper so she drew him with some pencil and pens with her own childish style giving him the funny starring eyes and bulbous spotty body as the balloon had sparked the idea of his cuddly frame.. To compliment this odd but amusing character which she named and noted on the paper she drew an eccentric friend for him with a look that was completely opposite to the look and shape of dear Mr Blobby ,who to this day is unknown but she called the friend of Mr Blobby "Mr Lanky" .Mr Lanky was a tall thin fellow with a walking stick to support his ambling gait he wore a suit with top hat and tails and he sported a beard that was trimmed to a point .Mr Lanky had a look that was steam-punk Victorian smart and polished but the pair were as clumsy and hapless as each other so together were quite a pair of comedians and that bound the odd pair together ... Well after creating the odd characters that were so amusing in their ridiculous odd way . The young 12/13 year old girl that created them thought I wonder what the BBC or someone there will think of these and foolishly (as she was too young to know abot copyrights) sent them off then in the post to a popular program at that time called Multicolour swap shop with an address that was an answer to a competition .. Time passed by and for years nothing was heard about the characters so thought they were lost and ignored ,until one day the silly funny face of Mr Blobby appeared on TV screens up and down the land on Noels House

party with someone else saying they thought him up ,,Well the child still kept drawings from the time she invented him and his friend as she didn't want to forget what she drew ! The child may have stylised these characters as they were Cartoons but even at that time she could draw realistic items and such that you would almost pick them up from the page so she was keeping her art and drawing each day when she could and learning not to give it away any more but that copyright is forever standing with the creator what ever waiver a company claims !though she never worked out how to claim it for that character after all the years once it popped up again !
