There could be several reasons why the gas is not working in your house. It could be due to a problem with the gas supply, a malfunction in the gas line, a faulty gas appliance, or a safety shut-off mechanism triggered by a gas leak. It is important to contact a qualified professional to diagnose and fix the issue to ensure safety and proper functioning of the gas system in your home.

YES and No Yes if you are going to be working on the gas water heater and No if you are working on a cold water line and if you are working on a hot water line you can shut off the gas or electric to the water heater so in case your water heater drains but what I usually do is just turn the water heater's water supply valve off.
No, not in my house.

To me it sounds like your pilot light on the fireplace is out. That could happen from a strong wind coming down the chimney or a strong breeze in the house from a fan. Check your pilot light and be sure to have the gas off before lighting the pilot light if it is out.

As long as your house stove is not running off of natural gas (a pipeline routed through your neighborhood with a big meter on the side of your house = natural gas). If your house has a big huge gas tank on the side of it, it is propane, and that is what those bottled gas things are that you buy at the gas station. Disconnect the gas line at the huge tank outside your house, and connect the small tank you got at the gas station directly to the line right there. I have done it myself before, and I am also a plumber with experience in working and installing gas lines. Joeman

To turn off the gas in your house, locate the main gas shut-off valve, typically found near the gas meter. Use a wrench to turn the valve clockwise until it is perpendicular to the gas pipe. This will shut off the gas supply to your house.
The efficiency of a heat engine is affected by the amount of working gas it contains. A larger amount of working gas can lead to higher efficiency because it allows for more energy to be converted into useful work. Conversely, a smaller amount of working gas may result in lower efficiency as there is less gas available to transfer heat and produce work.
If your gas gauge is not working on your 2000 Impala you need to take it in to a repair shop. There could be a fuse that needs to be replaced to prevent you from running out of gas.
