I am looking for the same sort of information as my mother (who is now 80ys) was there from a baby until she was 16yrs old. My sister and I are interested in what information was on record then.

We have found her parents. Her father died, then the three children ended up in these Homes.

NSW state archives, could not help us.

I have read somewhere that the Church of England has records (somewhere....)

We will follow up this lead.

Maybe www.clan.org.au could also help you.

You could also try the Anglican church in Sydney who is helping a number of leavers from this home. The best contact number is 1800774945 or email reportabuse@sydneyanglican.asn.au. They have employed someone to assist all the leavers from Church of England homes

How private is ancesters.com?

Short answer: Not very ! Long answer: anyone who subscribes can view any of the records on ancestors web-site. The 'casual visitor' will only get limited access. The information on ancestors is 'public records' - obtained from the registers of births, marriages and deaths. The registers are not private, and are available for public viewing. The whole point of sites like ancestors - is to allow people to research their family tree. If the information was only available to the people who were named on the records, the site would be useless.
