Because Army dogs have ranks they also can be busted or reduced in rank.The Royal Ulster Rifles famously had a bulldog that was a warrant officer,served in several campaigns in Africa (receiving campaign medals in the process) for fifteen years and was reduced in rank four times.

Sargent Major billy, as he was called was buried with full military honours.

In modern operations many dogs are used for explosive search and tracking,several have been awarded medals for bravery.

Dogs within the British army also receive the same priority as injured soldier's in the case of medical evacuation.
