How many seats required for majority
sushma swaraj
how many seats does a party need to obtain a simple majority in lok sabha
By the special rule (like emergencies) or when the ruling party has no majority the President of India can dissolve the Lok Sabha
India has Parliamentary System. People elect representative by secrete voting in General Elections. Those representative (552 in nos.) form Lok Sabha (Lower House). Biggest party (or biggest coliation) gets to form the government. And has to prove majority in the house. Leader of that party (or who so ever party nominates) become Prime Minister Of India.
the majority party leader who is elected in lok sabha elections becomes the prime minister of India.
To form the government you need half the seats, about 273 in lok sabha. To pass a constitutional amendment 2/3 of Lok sabha should vote for it. To impeach supreme court judge, president and other top level dignitaries 2/3 of combined house (lok sabha + Rajya sabha)
Absolute majority is the condition when the bill / resolution is supported by 50% of the total seats of the house. For example:There are 545 seats in Lok Sabha. If a resolution is passed with the support of 273 members (50% of total seats), it is said to be passed by absolute majority.Imp point - Absolute majority should not be confused with simple majority. In simple majority we require the support of 50% of the members present and voting. Whereas in absolute majority, we require the support of 50% of the total seats in the house (no matter how many members are present and voting).Regards,Amit Chauhanamit_r143@yahoo.co.in
He can be removed by a resolution of the Rajya Sabha passed by an absolute majority and agreed to by the Lok Sabha.

In Uttar Pradesh, which has a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats, a political party or coalition typically needs to secure a majority of these seats to form a government at the national level. This means that at least 41 seats are required for a simple majority. However, for a stable government, parties often aim for a higher number to ensure a stronger mandate.
