Margaret Thatcher had three Chancellors of the Exchequer during her time as Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990. The first was Geoffrey Howe, who served from 1979 to 1983 and was instrumental in implementing her economic policies. He was followed by Nigel Lawson, who held the position from 1983 to 1989 and is known for significant tax cuts and economic growth during his tenure. Finally, John Major took over as Chancellor from 1989 until Thatcher's resignation in 1990, later succeeding her as Prime Minister.
