Henry executed his second wife, Anne Boleyn in 1536 and his 5th wife Catherine Howard in 1542.

Although he is most famous for executing these two of his six wives, Henry VIII was famous for ordering an execution for almost every problem he faced as monarch.

Raphael Holinshed, in his Chronicles written during the reign of Elizabeth I, claimed that Henry had 72,000 people executed during his reign. Most historians doubt whether the Kingdom could survive that many executions without more civil unrest.
