Hitler actually declared himself the sole ruler and told everyone to follow his commands or else he would kill them!
When King Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic Church he designed it so that the king would be the leader of the Church of England. So he was the ruler of the church.Roman Catholic AnswerThe sole ruler, on earth, of the Church in England has always been the Pope, the Vicar of Christ. When Henry VIII broke from the Church, he created his own "church" making himself head of the Church of England. Big difference. The Church inEngland, is just the English branch of the worldwide Catholic Church. The Church of England is a protestant church founded by Henry VIII and parliament.
Because that is the way Henry VIII set it up. The King or Queen is the head of the Church of England and the Archbishop of Canterbury serves at the pleasure of the current ruler of England.
I think you are reffering to King Henry VIII of England wanting to annul (not divorce) his marriage to his first wife, Katharine of Aragon. The Roman Catholic Church would not allow him to do this, so he broke away from Romer and set up his own church in England which he declared himself the head of. Some speculate that he did this mainly because he wanted the English lands and monasteries that belonged to the Church in Rome to be his instead. This church that he made in England was not really Protestant to begin with as Henry VIII considered himself a Catholic -just not a Roman Catholic. However the Anglican Church took on more Protestant beliefs after Henry's reign, particularly during the reigns of Edward VI and Elizabeth I. Today the Anglican Church considers itself to be both Catholic and Reformed.
Anglicanism or the Church of England. As the ruler (king) of Britain, he had to officially belong to the Anglican Church. One of the British ruler's titles is the Defender of the Faith (Defensor Fidei in Latin).
to prove he was higher than the pope himself, and he was the ruler. That no one else was higher than he and the church was weak.
The grand duke of Moscow, Ivan IV (nicknamed 'the Terrible'), who declared himself the Tzar (emperor) of all Russia.
An emperor is the ruler of a country or empire. He marries an empress. Napoleon Bonaparte declared himself the Emperor of France.
The ruler of Liverpool is the same ruler as for the rest of England, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Anglican Church was formed under the reign of King Henry VIII of England in the 16th century. His desire for an annulment from Catherine of Aragon, which the Pope refused to grant, led him to break away from the Roman Catholic Church. This resulted in the establishment of the Church of England, with the monarch as its Supreme Head.
The most recent (and current, but hopefully not the last) ruler of the UK (there is no ruler of England) is Elizabeth II
