Not really. What Henry VIII wanted was to stop having a Roman Catholic church, with the Pope making the rules, and taxes being sent to Rome. He wanted to replace it with a Church of England, with himself as titular head, the rules being made by a synod of English bishops, and taxes (if any) being sent to the Church of England for its own use. Most English people wanted to become protestant, but Henry had conservative views, and hewed to Roman doctrine except where it referred to the supremacy of Rome and the Pope. The Church of England did not become protestant until the accession of his daughter as Elizabeth I.

Henry VIII did not change the church in England. He wanted a divorce from his wife, Catherine so he could marry Anne Bolynne. The only change that was made by the Church of England, was that they would not recognize the Pope as the spiritual leader of the church any longer. What had been Roman Catholic Churches in England, soon became Anglican churches. The Mass was said in English and the sacraments and the administration of the new church continued as before. Most of the clergy including bishops, renounced their allegiance to the Pope and sided with Henry VIII.
