You must be able to touch type on a computer keyboard, use the number pad on the keyboard without looking...at least 35-50WPM. You must have a comprehensive ability to use and understand computers. Also you have to learn diaganosis coding, insurance billing coding and locate codes in the ICD-9 book and the Procedure code book and the DSM books. You have to learn about pricing files for the codes and you must learn anatomy, medical terminology, and it is a good idea to know the names of drugs too. There are internet offers that claim anyone can do insurance billing. That is not necesicarily true. To be a good biller you need to understand how medical billing works and understand how medical insurance works. There are courses you can take to learn to work in medical offices, at home or for an insurance office. It is a rewarding career. I have worked at both a doctor's office, at home and for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 11 years. My course only took six months.

Laptop insurance is only beneficial when there is a high chance of having to use the insurance within a few years. The skill of laptops increase a lot every year, devaluating the older models. An insurance of 50 pounds a year for a laptop might be a good idea when it's new, but after 3 years most of the laptops are worth 50 pounds and it wouldn't be profitable to extent the laptop insurance after that. In other words, make sure that you only take an insurance for a year, and extend it after that year if you think that it's still necessary.
