As of October 2023, there have been 52 First Ladies of the United States, including current First Lady Jill Biden. This count includes the wives of each president, as well as a few women who served in the role without being married to the president, such as Martha Washington and Dolley Madison. Additionally, some presidents have had multiple First Ladies due to remarriage.
