4-5 times in thier lifetime so about once a month then will spend the rest of thier life as an adult for about 4-8 months.
yes
All insects molt until they have reached the adult stage.
Most don't. Molting is a way to grow, and as winged insects are the adult forms, they don't have to grow anymore, and they don't molt. Growing is done in the larval form. Some insects such as mayflies molt into their winged adult form, and then later molt again and emerge with reproductive abilities, but this is not common.
Adult stick insects can still molt their skin if they lose a leg. They will force themselves to molt just to regrow their limb back. Just like lizards if threatened they will drop of their limb in self defence to escape! I am currently doing my final year at Uni in a course called Masters Degree of Biological Sciences, it's quite awesome actually!
