Keeping them well-groomed and a healthy immune system helps in reducing flea infestations, including using a topical (please stay away from Hartz and Bio-Spot). I put mine on topicals only a few months out of the year as I want to minimize their exposure to chemicals. ']They prefer to be indoor dogs as well (very clean).
