Table salt and termite treatment - a brief online review

A quick review of the first thousand or so Google returns for "salt and termites" doesn't give a lot of solid information, but some sites suggest that it would work.

Probably the most promising sign is a number of patent applications for using table salt as a termite barrier, repellant or killer.

Table salt also gets a passing mention in several discussions of termite treatment options.

I found two research studies in Google scholar that iincidentally indicate that treatment with table salt gives protection from termites, but neither of these studies specifically set out to determine whether table salt is effective against termites.
