It depends on where the larva was obtained. If the larva is from the Eastern Population (Blue Mountain region) it feeds on Hernandia catalpifolia. If the larva is from the Cockpit Country it feeds on Hernandia jamaicensis. I suggest that if you are in possession of a homerus swallowtail larva that you either release it where you found it (in Jamaica), or contact Matt Lehnert (University of Florida). This is an endangered species and it is illegal to have one in captivity without proper authorization and it is important to keep individuals in the wild to reproduce with other wild individuals.
