Possibly not enough gas flow. Have a monometer test done along with a complete check up of the heater. Has this been a problem from the time the heater was installed? Could also be a gas line that is not large enough for the length of the run. Also, do you have flexible tubing connected between the heater and the incoming gas line? This may be your problem too. Remove the flex and connect with galv or regular gas pipe as per code in your area. In some states the flex line of any length is illegal.

Have you rotated the gas valve knob to "run". Have you turned up the thermostat? Is the pump running? No pump water flow - no heat -- no filtration. Is the filter clean? When was the last time you cleaned the filter? Ken
Use the link below to look at a Laars manual to see if one is included.
The thermostat for the heater is on the heater. Remote controls for the heater or other pool equipment is not an automatic option. You must contact a swimming pool professional skilled at installing remote controls for your pool equipment in a location which is convenient for you in your home. k
Use the manual provided with the heater. Each heater has somewhat different controls etc. If everything is already hooked up you may just have to turn a switch or two and turn up the thermostat.
I cannot find a current listing for Teledyne Laars. As far as I can tell, Teledyne and Laars separated, Laars joined up with Waterpik and then got reorganized under Jandy. www.jandy.com now has the Laars Lite2 line of pool heaters with the LG model almost identical to the Teledyne Laars LLG. You can access the manual at http://www.jandy.com/pdfs/H02359-.pdf . Jandy also has a parts list for older discontinued models.
First off, the thermostat is not a shut off. It is for controlling and maintaining the temp. To shut the heater off you have to use the toggle switch either on the side of the cabinet or the switch inside the cabinet. Some heaters may not have this feature. Alos, your water may be cooler than the lowest reading on that thermostat which may be in the range of 60 degrees or so. If in doubt READ your heater manual. k

There could be several reasons why a Teledyne Laars pool heater is not coming on. Common issues include a tripped circuit breaker, low water flow due to a dirty filter or blocked pipes, or a malfunctioning thermostat or ignition system. Additionally, check for any error codes displayed on the control panel, as these can provide specific guidance on what might be wrong. If troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, it may be best to consult a professional technician.

Check that you are getting voltage from the thermocouple. You should see about 600 millivolts.

Manual says 'Automatic Gas Shutoff' heater probably is not igniting. Should call your pool man. Manual recommends not to light manually. Please don't try (if you like your eyebrows) :-)
