Mayfly Nymphs live under stones in fast-flowing water or among plants in slow streams. Some species live in small burrows at the bottom of the stream. Some are flat and cling to the bottom of rocks in fast-flowing streams. They are mostly found in cool, more permanent water bodies like streams and lakes.
They are not harmful to humans
No. Mayflies are adults after they hatch. All they do is mate and die.
Yes. They should be able to stand up for at least one season. (300-400 miles?) As long as the soles don't show much wear or cause you any pain they are probably fine.
They have gills that allow them to derive oxygen from the water, and also absorb water, therefor receiving more oxygen. While the above answer applies to mayfly nymphs which live under water it doesn't apply to adult mayflies which, like their name says, fly. Adult mayflys breathe in the same way as all insects, via tiny openings in their exoskeleton.
The nymph form of the mayfly does have a mouth. It feeds on plant material. The adult does not have a mouth because they mate right away and die within 3 days of becoming an adult. they do not eat as adults
They are herbivores

You live in a home. You live on a street. You live at an address. They all essentially describe where you live, but the "in, on,at" is used to specify which location you are conveying.
