Absolutely! This why a child should not go to school hungry. Extremes in temperature and humidity will also affect a student.

Think of when you are at work. If you are overly hot, cold, hungry, your head hurts, your butt is aching from a hard chair, you stayed up too late and just want a nap... Do you have a harder time concentrating? It is the same with kids. A proper working environment, and being prepped for the day, will help them concentrate.

In my experience the more comfortable and relaxed you are in general, the fewer distractions you have. Distractions are a no-no for effective study, so put on those sweats, grab some hot tea (or beer), and go somewhere quiet and cozy. I like my couch in low light. Some may prefer another setting. Avoid the bedroom because you only want that room associate with sleep and nocturnal relations. Really, whatever helps you focus on just your studies is your best bet.

Don't forget study breaks. Also, start studying early on and study each night at a regular time, place, and interval.

My experience? Two associates, a bachelors, two thirds through a second bachelors, and halfway through my masters. You'll find your groove, so figure out what works for you.
