I've read up to the seventh book in the Ranger's Apprentice series, and he hasn't died yet.
I've read through book eight and he isn't gone. I also know for a fact that Malcolm cures him in book nine and he doesn't die even though John make it seem like he will.
No!, not so far. In Rangers Apprentice book 9 - 'Halts Peril' he becomes close to death but does not actually die.
No, he does not die in the series. However, he comes very close to dying in the 9th book which is titled Halt's Peril.

nope i completely disagree if halt dies then the whole book would be ruined he said however that someone will die. i honestly dont think itll be halt cause if it is then ill cry forever and take DOWN john flanangan!!!!

Will does not actually die in any of the books of rangers apprentice
It was a battle with Morgarath and Will's Dad saved Halt and that was why Will was at Redmont. Will's Dad had told Halt about his wife that was just about to have birth, but when Halt gets to the farmhouse where Will's mom was she was already dead. So Halt delivers Will to Redmont and tells Baron Arald to take care of him.
It is out!! Also the 9th book ('Halt's Peril') is soon to be out! I'm excited as this is my favourite series!
Towards the end of page 206. It's right after Will gives Halt a blumpkin.
