Regardless of the type of surgery that you are planning, you should always choose a surgeon who has lots of experience with cases specifically like yours. Therefore, when seeking an ear surgeon for a child, you should look for one who has performed many such procedures on children. It does not have to be a pediatric specialist; just be sure that the person has done many such operations on children. Since placing tubes in the ears is primarily done on children, as long as the surgeon you choose has done many of these procedures, you should be fine.
If all goes as planned...and you do not have to repeat anything along the way...in general...four years of undergraduate work, four years of general medical school training...five to six years of general surgical training...and one to two more of sub-specialty / fellowship training. What's that, about 15 or so? That's of course, after successfully completing 13 years of K-12! 28 years of working hard and doing your best, ...doing well enough on the many tests along the way, ...and sticking with it, even when you felt you could not. Good Luck with your journey, wherever you are at on it... This is a different jeff, but it sounds as though the person above is trying to put people off becoming a plastic surgeon ...very lame. If you really want to become a plastic surgeon... go for it...don't let anyone hold you back or put you off.More than you have left
After completing your school you will require another 12 to 13 years to train as a Neuro surgeon
Some of the negative aspects can be the long hours. Also a surgeon can also be emotionally hurt when he or she makes an error and may permanently change a persons life.
