It depends a lot on: 1. Your experience. How many years have you worked in the trade, and at what skills (installation, repairs, sheet metal, gas fitting, refrigeration, controls...)
2. Your qualifications. Here in Ontario, there are 3 levels of gas fitter certification; 2 kinds of air conditioning licences; a sheet metal worker licence; 2 levels of Oil Burner tech licences. In some States, the NATE (North American Trade Excellence) patches carry a lot of weight.
3. Is the shop Union or non-union?
4. What locale?
Based on the above, you can expect to make anywhere from $12 to $40 /hr.
