Typically a person doing clinical therapy (psychotherapy or counseling) would have an MSW (Master's in Social Work) or an MA leading to the LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) credential. The person would then have to meet whatever the state requirements are (supervised practice, exam) to obtain a license to practice.
A popstar doesn't need as much schooling as the average person because they do not have to go to collage.
They generally need more than 6 years of schooling
I talked to a physical, occupational and speech therapist...and they ALL said it used to take four years of schooling, now for some reason it has been upped to 6. So...it takes six OR seven years of schooling to be any type of therapist. Unless you combine college therapist classes in with high school, then when you actually start going to college...it will take four years. Hope that helps!
Presently, the minimum educational requirement for a physical therapist is a master's degree in physical therapy. However, this may change in the near future to a doctorate for entry into the field.
