Zak George is 34 and he is a perfect trainer at the age of 34; he even bought two dogs to train himself. He named them Supernova and Venus. Supernova is a king at commands and Venus is queen at disc catching. Zak George has his own show called Superfetch. I'm 11 and I watch that program; I have two dogs named Miko and Max. Miko is a chihuahua and max is a Shetland sheepdog. Zak's Supernova is a Australian Shepard and so is Venus and Zak trained them perfectly. Cesar Millian is self taught. He learned to handle dogs as a boy in Mexico. He observed them and learned about their nature. He came to the US with a dream of teaching people what he had learned and make a living working with dogs, something he couldn't do very easily in Mexico. He trains dogs by teaching people about the nature of their dogs and why they behave the way they do. When you understand dogs natural behavior, it's very much easier to learn how to help them fit into their people's world. Cesar has about thirty dogs and his family helps him; his children have been learning about dog behavior for their whole lives.

The most important thing you need to be a dog trainer or dog handler is to know about dogs and understand and love them. You can get training very early by working where dogs are; veterinary offices, you can train as a vet assistant; professional dog trainers as an assistant; dog groomers, you do need some training but these are places to get started. You can start as young as one of these dog related employers will hire you.
