The iconic and award winning advertising campaign for Frontier Airlines was done by Grey Advertising, a large international ad agency headquartered in New York. Grey won the account in 2002, pitching a campaign that brought the animals on their plane tails to life. The campaign won over 100 awards, including Effie's, Addys, Emmys, Clios and many other industry awards. However, in 2011 Grey laid off the creative team that was responsible for writing and producing the campaign. As a result of the personel change, the voice of the brand changed, and the creative work suffered. Unhappy with the new work (and increased production costs) Frontier parted ways with Grey and took the campaign "in-house." It is rumored that after firing Grey, Frontier rehired the original creative team...and the advertising has returned to form.
