SHORT BREAD 5 c. sifted flour
1 lb. butter
1 c. sugar Cream butter and sugar together in a large bowl. Add flour and knead like bread until smooth. Pat out on a 15x10 cookie sheet with a spatula until smooth. Fork all over. Bake in 350 degree oven about 45 minutes or until brown (30 minutes). Remove from oven; cut into squares while still hot. Optional: Sprinkle top of short bread with 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar.
