The conflict between Native Americans and cowboys, often referred to as the "Indian Wars," spanned several decades, roughly from the mid-19th century to the late 19th century, specifically from the 1850s to the 1890s. This period involved numerous battles and skirmishes as settlers, including cowboys, encroached on Native American lands. The wars were not a single continuous conflict but rather a series of engagements between various tribes and U.S. forces, resulting in significant loss of life and land for Native Americans.
