Erasmus was a humanist during the Renaissance who was part od the catholic church but crtisized it's preists and clergy's corruptness also. He wrote satire (The Praise of Folly) and studied around Europe. He also translated the New Testament to Greek and common languages so people could read The Bible themselves and not rely on priest to translate.
