The antivirus might detect and deal with a virus installed when a user is suckered by a phishing attack - but many phishing attacks simply try to trick users into giving up sensitive information. Since the email the user sends back in response is not actually a virus, antivirus will not protect against it. Likewise - if a user is tricked into going to a website and divulging information - the website is not a virus, so antivirus will not protect against it. There are some computer security products that will detect some tricks that phishing perpetrators use to redirect users to a different web site than the one they think they are going to and will alert the user or block the redirect. Some products also maintain a "blacklist" of known phishing sites, but neither of these is actually antivirus.
