Actually, it's perfectly legal in all 50 states to purchase handguns online as long as you have the handgun shipped to a local licensed dealer as a transfer, and as long as the handgun meets the requirements for the state in which you reside. I say the last part specifically because California has some laws that other states don't, such as a magazine capacity limit.

Go into any gun shop. Some Walmarts sell ammo and shotguns/rifles, but I don't think any sell handguns any longer. Also, you can buy guns and accessories online at gun auction sites such as gunbroker.com
