Yes. Your parole will expire regardless of owing fees. In Missouri after completion of parole term the State can intercept State income tax refund to apply towards fees. What else would happen if not discharged? A person will not be returned to prison for owing fees. That would cost the State more to incarcerate someone right?

In the State of Missouri the answer is yes. It is not legal to extend someone's parole time in any state for not paying fees. Unpaid fees are simply usually referred to a collection agency once the offender is discharged from parole.

If your on parole in Louisiania and behind in payments what will they do?

Different states have different rules, but most are similar and there is no reason Lousiana should be different. If you fall behind on your parole supervisory fees or other fees assessed to you while on parole, typically the parole office has two options: extend your period of parole to give you opportunity to pay it; or, release you from parole and turn the outstanding balance over to a collection agency. Indebtedness is not a criminal offense.

Does a parolee have to pay a parole officer?

Many states charge a monthly supervision fee. I cannot speak for other states, but in Missouri Parole officers do not collect fees. The parolees all over the state mail their fees to one location and it is deposited into a fund used to pay for programs such as substance abuse treatment and electronic monitoring. Parolees are provided self addressed envelopes. Parolees CANNOT be returned to prison for failure to pay fees.
