Once paternity has been established by one method or the other, he will then be asked to voluntarily agree to a child support agreement. If he does so voluntarily they will defer to the two of you to agree on an amount and schedule, and will file the order with the court for you as long as your agreement meets the minimum requirements of the state for percentage of income and regularity of payments. If he will not agree to make payments they will file a request for a child support order on the child's behalf with the court in your area and you and or your ex will be required to appear in court for a judgment from a family court judge.
