While getting a bond is not very easy, unless you are a business with a great credit rating, you can substitute cash in place of the bond. The cash is deposited with the court and is held pending the resolution of the lien claim. In Ohio the amount of the bond/cash deposit, will depend on the face value of the lien. A lien for $5,000 or less will require a bond in the amount of 2x the lien value. Over $5,000 will require a lien waiver in the amount of 1 1/2x the face value of the lien.
