As example, in Florida, you will need to go to the Clerk of Circuit Courts Office and query the official records, or in most counties this can be accessed on line. Once you have navigated your way to the official records, query those records by name. The document summaries returned from the search parameters will give a description and link to view the document. The viewed document can then be printed. The recorded document will cite the amount owed, interest, penalties, etc. It is required by Florida statute that to record a lien it has to state the terms under which the lien is being placed and the amount owed with associated costs.
