As of 1992, there are 27 Amendments, Amendments I through XXVII. Some function to add substance to the Constitution (this process being deemed as amending the Constitution) but several others substantially alter the original provisions of Articles I through VII. The text of the Constitution itself (that is, not inclusive of the subsequent body of Constitutional law) therefore, very generally, is taken to be the seven articles, as amended by the twenty-seven amendments.
