Seats in the Senate are distributed as follows:
24 senators for each of Ontario and Québec
10 senators for each of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia
4 senators for Prince Edward Island
6 senators for each of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba
6 senators for Newfoundland and Labrador
1 senator for each of the territories
It should be noted that the Governor General may recommend to the Queen that up to four or eight additional senators be appointed to the Senate, presumably on the advice of the prime minister, provided that the principle of regional representation is maintained. As such, under some circumstances, the maximum size of the Senate is 113 members.
