The cost to buy a young lion cub will probably be a few thousand dollars, but the cost to buy it is insignificant compared to the cost of caring for it. Unless you have around a hundred thousand dollars to spend, you can't afford a lion cub. In most locations you will have to have a property of at least five acres, which will need to be completely fenced with an 8 foot fence. The Fencing cost alone (not counting the land, which for all I know you live on a farm and already own) will probably be on the order of ten thousand dollars. Also, that's just the perimeter fence; the lion will also need a cage or enclosure which is entirely within that fence (no section of the perimeter fence can be used as a cage wall). Then there's permit fees (assuming you can even get a permit), special equipment, food and veterinary costs, and liability insurance.
