Copyright exists in a book (or any other artistic work, including a photograph) from the moment it is created by the author. The author can then hold onto, sell, rent, give away etc the copyright. How much money the author should be paid for the copyright is a matter for discussion between tht author and the publisher. Famous authors get paid a lot, maybe millions, an unknown author may be offered very little.
In most countries copyright is free, instantaneous and automatic.
Each book has its own copyright information.
Copyright fees in the US range from $30 USD to $220 USD.
Once you have written a book, it is copyright to you. All writers copyright their own books.
Copyright exists as soon as the book is finished and it is not necessary to formally register with the US copyright office before publication.

The copyright page of a book gives much more information than just the copyright. It includes the cataloging data from the country of origin, edition information, and often even the typeface and paper quality.
You cannot copyright a book with a future date. Copyright applies automatically as soon as the work is set in "permanent form," which usually means when it is written in draft. Copyright continues until 75 years after the death of the author. No actions are needed to obtain this property right. However, in the US, protecting your copyright in a book can be easier if the copyright statement appears in the front of the book.
Copyright Act, 1957, and Copyright Rules, 1958, as amended.
For the rightsholder, copyright allows an income to be derived from the book and its content. For a user, copyright law allows certain unlicensed uses such as in education or criticism.
About $2,000,000 because laws had raised the price to make a copyright book.*Copyright book? I'm not making a copyright book, I just mentioned two copyrighted--or is it trademarked?--names in my book, Morrowind and World of Warcraft. Do I have to pay $2,000,000 or will the publishers? I'm just a kid! I don't have two million dollars on me!!!!! I don't even have a collage fund!!!!!!! (Not that I know of, at least)*
If you are a citizen of or living in Nigeria at the time the book was fixed in a tangible medium, it is automatically protected by copyright.
