There are no alternatives. AA is lawful only as ONE policy: an employer subject to Title VII (all governments and all private employers larger than 14 employees) may be subject to temporary affirmative action hiring only if one or more job groups show a racial makeup significantly different form the outside workforce in which the employer recruits that job group. Once the disparity is eliminated, and "parity" reached (no statistically significant difference from the recruiting pool) AA must immediately end and race given no weight in selection.
Other that that temporary punishment, employers subject to t& may never give any weight to race in selection.
Affirmative Action has been implemented worldwide. The US, India, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, and France are some of the countries that have been able to successfully use Affirmative Action.
Some alternative approaches to affirmative action that could promote diversity and inclusion in hiring and education include implementing targeted recruitment efforts, creating mentorship programs for underrepresented groups, utilizing blind hiring practices, and providing diversity training for employees and students.
There is no specific term for this action. Some may refer to affirmative action as "reverse discrimination", but that's not a legal term, nor a legal concept.
Affirmative action was put into place so people of varying difference could not be rejected for a discrimination purpose. Some people believe that affirmative action is a harm because people less qualified will be given a job because of race or sexual preference, when this happens affirmative action should be removed.
Write a paper recommending to a company's board of directors that affirmative action policies be implemented. It should be 700-1050 words in length and formatted according to APA guidelines. Include points supporting the recommendation and clearly address points that may be used against this recommendation. The paper should also address how affirmative action policy will relate to compliance with equal employment opportunity law. I need some suggestions on where to look to get more information on this. Any help would be grateful. Thanks
end some affirmative action programs
reverse discrimination
De jure discrimination refers to discrimination that is mandated by law, such as racial segregation policies in the past. De facto discrimination refers to discrimination that exists in practice, even if not specifically mandated by law, such as racial disparities in education or employment. Examples of public policies designed to address de jure discrimination include civil rights legislation, while policies to address de facto discrimination may include affirmative action programs.
Affirmative action is supposed to ensure equal rights in several places. For example: to ensure African Americans are not discriminated against when applying for colleges they are given extra "points" for being of this race. These points are considered when deciding who may attend the college. The affirmative action is controversial because some say by giving certain races extra points it is discriminatory towards Caucasians.
not many because some are against and some are for it so in my opion i would have to say 50%
There is no general consensus in scholarly work, but here are some contrasting examples of conclusions some authors have reached: 1) Affirmative action has not decreased productivity: http://www.jstor.org/pss/145562 2) Affirmative action has little productivity costs unless they are significantly politically motivated: http://heinonline.org/HOL/LandingPage?collection=journals&handle=hein.journals/uclalr42&div=33&id=&page= 3) Affirmative action has no decrease productivity because test scores and differentials are not related to work productivity: http://heinonline.org/HOL/LandingPage?collection=journals&handle=hein.journals/calr84&div=28&id=&page= 4) Affirmative action's effect on productivity is difficult to measure and therefore we cannot know: http://www.questia.com/googleScholar.qst;jsessionid=MJPLWJHg0sjkLP0qhphcBRLHzPmYDtChZVHdnMRRGTfTxkY1LLGC!-771937571!822719353?docId=5000144160 5) Affirmative action has little effect on productivity but seems to create negative perception of itself: http://www.jstor.org/pss/2534808
